Services Delivered

  • Disconnection of electrical supplies, Cat 6 cables, and fire detection systems from existing portacabins
  • Installation of a new sub main cable through the cold mill area
  • Supply and installation of a GRP cabinet with a three-phase distribution board (18th Edition compliant)
  • Running new supply cables from a generator to an electrical enclosure
  • Installation of containment and fibre-optic/Cat 6 cabling for high-speed network connectivity
  • Installation of Cat 6 cables for G4 clocking system and turnstile gates
  • Challenges & Mitigations

    Challenge

    Complex Cabling Routes

The project required running multiple types of cabling – electrical, fibre-optic, and Cat 6 – through challenging areas of the Port Talbot site, including the cold mill zone.

    Mitigation

Our team carried out detailed planning and used containment solutions to navigate the cabling routes efficiently. We worked closely with site engineers to design pathways that avoided interference and maintained compliance with operational constraints.

    Challenge

    Maintaining Operational Efficiency During Relocation

Relocating cabins and installing new infrastructure without disrupting Tata Steel’s ongoing production activities demanded careful scheduling and site coordination.

    Mitigation

We implemented a precise project timeline and worked collaboratively with Tata Steel engineers to align our activities with production windows, minimising downtime and maintaining continuity of operations.

    Challenge

    Stringent Safety and Compliance Requirements

Working in a high-risk industrial environment with strict safety regulations required all installations to meet the latest standards, including the 18th Edition wiring regulations.

    Mitigation

All electrical infrastructure was designed and installed to meet regulatory standards. Our team prioritised safety at every stage, ensuring compliance with industry best practices and site-specific protocols.
