Emergency Lighting - Are you the ‘Responsible Person’ for your premise

The Fire Safety Order (The Regulatory Reform 2005, introduced in 2006) requires provision for correct signage and emergency lighting of emergency routes and exits from the building. Routine testing and maintenance of the emergency lighting system is also a requirement, and any failure to follow the correct procedures may hold serious implications for the responsible person.

Emergency lighting is essential for the safety of building occupants where a sudden loss of light may put lives at risk. Provision was brought in under the Fire Safety Order, where emergency lighting can really save lives, but emergency lighting is just as valuable when normal lighting has been lost through power failure.

Ensuring the electrical wiring at your business meets regulations

At Highland we help businesses achieve compliance through inspection and testing of electrical systems, ensuring that they have met the policies set out in the ‘Electricity at Work Regulations 1989’.

Over time, electrical systems suffer wear and tear so we test your electrical installation including all parts of a distribution system from the main incoming supply point, through to wiring accessories such as sockets and light fittings ensuring you meet BS7671.

"Over the last 30 years, during my time working the Prison Service Estates Department, Highland Services has worked in all the sites that I have managed. Highland are a 1st class contractor who do their upmost to deliver on time and on budget and provide whatever added value they can along the way... they understand the challenges of working in a secure and demanding environment. The contract values have varied from reactive callouts at £65 to project works over £1m. All works are completed to high standards and managed superbly throughout the length of the contract. I have no hesitation in recommending Highland Services to any other Public funded service looking to recruit a reliable contractor."
